What are the benefits of being a member of the NDPA?

What if I am not a professional photographer?
The association is designed to enhance the skills of anyone who is interested in photography, no matter what level they are at. Through networking, workshops, monthly meetings and themed assignments everyone will have an opportunity to increase their skill level and pursue areas which are of interest to them
Where and when are the meetings held?
Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month and are held at the Port Perry Community Centre, 2 1655 Reach St. (RR-8) Port Perry, ON L9L1A7 905-985-8698 , Start time is 6:30 and will run to approximately 8:30
What will take place at the meetings?
The monthly meetings will be divided into two segments. The first will cover members’ photographs recently taken, as well as discussing a theme for the following month. The second half will feature a guest speaker.
Where do I get more information on NDPA events and outings?
The Calendar Of Events page (available in the members Control Panel once logged in) will list the upcoming workshops, outings, monthly meetings and other NDPA events.
Snaphopts will also be emailed to members detailing any new events and when changes to existing ones are made. Information on these are also available on the NDPA Forum.
If more information is needed or questions come up in regards to an event you can also emal info@ndpa.ca and someone will get back to you right away.
How do I find out who the guest speaker will be?
When you log into the site you will see a link marked ‘Calendar of Events’. Simply follow it for a list of all upcoming events associated with the NDPA.
What is the format of the workshops ?
In the ‘Calendar of Events’ (listed on the members log-in page) you will see all upcoming workshops. Each description will list cost, procedure for sign-up, description and location.
How do I qualify for various discounts at stores in the area?
By clicking the ‘Partners’ tab, at the top of the site, you will see a list of partners simply present your NDPA membership card and the discount will be applied to your purchase.
I want to be involved in exhibitions, but I do not have a printer?
Exhibitions will be arranged through the NDPA with various venues in Durham Region. If you have photographs you wish to display, but have no means to print or frame them, printing will be provided at a nominal cost. Framing will also be provided on loan. If the photographs sell at the venue, the cost of the frame will be deducted from the sell ing price.
How do I get my photograph on the front page of the website?
The image displayed on the main page of the site is done so automatically. Each member has the ability to upload photographs monthly, in conjunction with the current theme. The member then chooses their ‘best’ shot, which is automatically brought to a second page, along with everyone else’s ‘best shots’. Each member is then allowed to vote on the ‘best’ collection. Whichever photo has the most votes will automatically be brought to the front.
The monthly Photograph will also be featured in various media publications in the area.
